Established in 2011, Southern 4x4 Club is a not-for-profit, family-friendly four-wheel drive club, proudly affiliated with Four Wheel Drive South Australia Inc. (FWDSA). We're a community brought together by a shared passion for four-wheel driving, camping and exploring the great outdoors.
With our roots in Adelaide's southern suburbs and the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula, our adventures take us across South Australia and beyond. While we're proud of where we started, we welcome members from all areas and all walks of life.
We're a family-friendly club with something for everyone, from young families making memories together and provisional drivers learning the ropes, to newcomers finding their feet off-road and seasoned tourers who've just about seen it all. Our members drive a wide variety of vehicles, and while there's always a little friendly rivalry and plenty of cheeky banter about whose 4WD is best, we're all part of the same crew when it counts!
From social day trips and weekend escapes to extended touring adventures, we're passionate about discovering new places, building friendships and sharing experiences along the way.

At Southern 4x4 Club, we believe the best adventures aren't just about the destinations — they're about the people you share them with.
Whether we're exploring tracks close to home, heading further afield for an extended outback expedition or simply getting together for a social day out, there's always something happening at Southern 4x4 Club. Our calendar brings together family-friendly adventures, weekend escapes, social gatherings, four-wheel drive training and extended touring, with something for all ages, interests and experience levels.
From the sandy tracks of South Australia's spectacular coastline to the rugged Flinders Ranges and beyond, we've shared countless adventures in our own backyard. And when the call of the open road takes us further yonder, our members have explored iconic destinations including the Simpson Desert, Madigan Line, Googs Track and Victoria's High Country. But what truly makes Southern special is the people. We're a family-friendly club built on friendship, encouragement and a willingness to lend a hand. Whether you're learning the ropes, tackling your first challenging track or navigating a tricky section of terrain, there's always a fellow member ready to guide you through, offer a reassuring word or jump in to help with a recovery or roadside repair.
We believe in sharing knowledge, building confidence and learning from one another. Our training opportunities help members develop their four-wheel driving skills, while our social days, family adventures and evenings around the campfire create friendships that extend well beyond the tracks.
You don't need to be an expert, have the most modified 4WD or travel halfway across Australia to belong. Just bring your sense of adventure, a willingness to get involved and a love of the great outdoors. Because at Southern, it's not just about where the tracks take us — it's about the people travelling alongside us.

At Southern 4x4 Club, our values guide how we explore, support one another and care for the places we visit. They're at the heart of everything we do, both on and off the tracks.
1. COMMUNITY & INCLUSION
Everyone belongs at Southern 4x4 Club. We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels, creating a friendly, family-focused environment where friendships grow, knowledge is shared and everyone feels part of the crew.
2. ADVENTURE & EXPLORATION
We embrace the spirit of adventure, discovering new destinations, sharing memorable experiences and encouraging members to explore beyond the familiar.
We welcome collaboration and seek opportunities to access private properties and restricted-access locations through appropriate channels, with permission and respect for landowners, Traditional Owners and local communities.
We advocate for responsible access to the places we explore, helping to protect both these opportunities and the natural environment for generations to come.
3. SAFETY, KNOWLEDGE & SUPPORT
We look out for one another and encourage members to build their skills, confidence and knowledge through training and shared experience.
From safe vehicle handling and recovery techniques to navigation, equipment, maintenance and responsible camping, we believe there's always something new to learn and knowledge worth sharing.
4. RESPECT FOR COUNTRY & ENVIRONMENT
We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands we explore and respect their enduring connection to Country, culture and community.
We are committed to protecting landscapes, wildlife and cultural heritage through responsible four-wheel driving, minimal-impact camping and environmental awareness.
We support conservation efforts and positive relationships with Traditional Owners, landowners and land-management authorities to help preserve these special places for future generations.
